Almost Like Printing Money
We analyzed the top 10 casino games on the App Store based on their total U.S. revenue in 2020.
Together, the top 10 apps brought in more than $237M between January and May of 2020. The gap between the top players and "the rest" however, is pretty wide.

Lead wolf, Slotomania, raked in more than $47M, about 20% of the total for all ten. DoubleDown™ and Jackpot Party came close at $31M and $30M, respectively. The lowest-ranked game, Lightning Link Slots, brought in $11M. Although it's just a quarter of the top dog, it's still a magnificent amount!
No IRL Casinos Leads to Higher Revenues
Although casino games have been rising in popularity month over month in the last year, they still had the real casino alternative.
When lockdown hit in March, the only replacement was eliminated, making the virtual alternative the only way to throw your money away. And it shows!
Revenue rose 53% compared to peak revenue in February. Summed up, the group hit an all-time revenue high in the U.S. App Store, with more 2.3M earned in a single day.

With such fierce competition, it's no surprise that paid user acquisition (aka. ads) is a serious investment for all of these apps. But just how much can they invest in order to make a profit? We can get a general idea with a simple calculation—diving revenue by downloads.
Here things look quite different. Companies that can get more revenue for a single download need fewer downloads to grow the bottom line and can easily outspend their competitors.

You might be thinking "how?!?!?". According to the data, for casino games, unlike other freemium games, revenue far outweighs downloads.
